This kit contains one upgraded Powerflex solid steel pivot pin and a Genuine BMW spring clip, as pictured.
The original-equipment pivot pin for the clutch release arm is made of plastic, which weakens with time and exposure to repeated heat cycles. Through repeated contact with the clutch release fork, the plastic pivot is known to eventually either wear down to a "nub", or in many cases crack, or simply shatter.

No one wants to drop the transmission for a $1 plastic part!
Installing the Powerflex steel pivot pin kit helps to ensure that your clutch will operate reliably for the long term. This is especially a great upgrade for high-performance cars that will see hard clutch use.
This kit will fit a wide range of BMW applications on the following chassis: E82, E88, F22, F23, F87, E36, E46, E90, F30, F80, F32, F33, F82, F83, E60, F10, F06, F12, E84, E83, E53, Z3, Z4, and Z8.
This Powerflex clutch pivot pin fits most manual transmission BMW models with the any of the following engine codes: M42, M44, N20, B48 4-cylinder, M50, M52, M52tu, S50, S52, M54, S54, N51, N52, N54, N55, B58 6-cylinder, as well as the M60, M62, N63, S62, S63 and S65 V8 engines.
The BimmerWorld View: We actually prefer a hardened steel pivot pin over the popular brass pivot pins. Brass is a MUCH softer metal than steel, and while it's cheaper to manufacturer and buy, it can wear down just like plastic does. If you're a racer, aggressive street driver, or have an upgraded clutch with increased clamping / spring load, we always suggest upgrading to our Stainless Steel part.
