The E82 135i/1M, E9X 325i/328i/330i/335i/M3 rear sway bar link connects the sway bar (anti roll bar) to the rest of the suspension. As the suspension and the sway bar go through their motions the link rotates and twists. On cars that get lowered suspensions or track use the stock ball joints in the link get a real workout. These upgraded rear swaybar links use greasable urethane joints on one end and a Heim joint on the other - heavy duty and race-spec components that help the link last longer and perform better under the stresses of the race track.
These links are also adjustable to remove preload from the rear sway bar. Preload comes from using fixed links with differing ride heights from side to side of the car. Coil overs and other factors can mean slightly different ride heights from side to side. This twists the sway bar - loads it up - even at rest. Adjustable links allow you to lengthen or shorten the link through a range of 6.375" to remove the load set the tension to zero. This is better for handling and vital for corner balancing.
